Hey all, I haven’t had a thing to say all week. My life is boring… haha
I could have told you about the weekend, that Shawn and I walked around Montreal and the many festivals, but, it’s kind of boring to write, I mean, I had fun but it was quite uneventful. There are pictures of the weekend on my flickr account. (click on the right sidebar)
Oh we went to see the movie Handcock. I liked it. It’s a good action superhero movie.
Now, about the title. I just came back from Yves Rocher and the girl at the counter tells me they don’t have bags anymore. I was purchasing 3 items. Eeee… I don,t have pockets, what to I do? She tells me, they are being ecological and saving the earth and they don’t give out bags anymore.
That’s right, I now need to carry a bag around 24/7 just IN CASE I feel the urge to shop?
What is this none sense?
For the record, I do have reusable bags at home. I use them when I shop around the neighbourhood or for groceries.
Back the the story.
Then she says, well we have paper bags, but I am just warning you that we won’t have them anymore soon.
Oh boy. I get that this is a bio earth friendly botanical product selling store thing, and looking like they care and removing the use of PLASTIC bag is a good thing. But removing the use of bags altogether?
COME ON.
Let me explain why this is retarded. This store has a large part of their sale in the mailing system. You are a member, you get all the promotions and specials plus catalogues BY MAIL. I know, I AM a member. See where I am going with this? Yes because you are smart.
They are dissing the clients in store, the ones who spend the money, for “ecological” reasons, while they are sending thousands of envelops filled with paper all over the country to people that might just throw it away and not buy anything.
There is a limit to the ecolo thing I mean c’mon… The planet isn’t going to clean itself up only because we start using reusable bags. And NO, don’t tell me “We gotta start somewhere!” Because the “where” to start would be the stop buying big SUVs and polluting cars and start to TRULY monitor the big factories’ gas emissions.
Us using the trees and transforming it into paper isn’t the problem really. The problem we are having is the fact that yes the demand in paper is big, and the trees are having a hard time growing back because of all the pollution we are causing. Vicious circle. And irony.
Look I am all for a better and a cleaner world. Shit I am close to 30 and never owned a car. Can’t say I am not doing my part.
But please, be logical. I know that store will piss a lot of people off.
I was pissed. I won’t go there anymore. Unless I happen to have a bag already anyway. lol
OK time to work.
